Redskins lose running back Chris Thompson with ugly leg injury

The Redskins now hold the lead over the Saints 24-13, but have lost running back Chris Thompson, who was carted off the field with a leg injury. The Saints (8-2) win streak extends to eight games after beating Washington.

The lead wouldn't last however, as the Saints rallied to tie the game at 31 in regulation thanks to Alvin Kamara's 18-yard touchdown reception and two-point conversion rush with 1:05 remaining and then won 34-31 in overtime when Wil Lutz kicked a 28-yard field goal. But the Redskins followed with a 75-yard drive in six plays to take a 31-16 lead at 5:58 on a 7-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jeremy Sprinkle, who was almost as open as Grant, but wasn't only because he was in the end zone already. A good return by Tommylee Lewis gave New Orleans the ball on the 39, which set up the winning drive. The Saints had 535 yards of offense while the Redskins had 456 yards.

After losing the toss for OT, the Saints forced a punt and drove 51 yards in three plays for the winning field goal. Lattimore, the No. 11 pick in the 2017 NFL draft and one of the league's top rookies this season, tried to play again but had to leave the game.

Mark Ingram scored the only touchdown for the Saints in the first half, on a 36-yard run, tying the game at 10-10.

A fourth quarter Saints field goal made it 24-16, but Washington responded with a touchdown that padded the lead to 31-16.

Brees finished 29-of-41 passing, for 385 yards and two touchdowns.
