Federal Bureau of Investigation finds second Uzbek sought over Manhattan terror attack

Federal Bureau of Investigation finds second Uzbek sought over Manhattan terror attack

A law enforcement official said Kadirov was a friend of suspect Sayfullo Saipov's and may not have any role in the case.

Federal prosecutors in NY have filed terrorism charges against an Uzbek immigrant in the deadly truck attack on a NY bike path.

Both Saipov and Kadirov are from Uzbekistan, a country in Central Asia that formerly was part of the Soviet Union.

Mukhammadzoir Kadirov, who the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced a 90-minute search for, reportedly lived in the Wexford Apartment complex near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa until earlier this year, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Investigators said they later found a cellphone connected to Saipov that had Islamic State group propaganda.

The complaint says Saipov plowed a rented truck through pedestrians and bicyclists intentionally.

The FBI is no longer asking for the public's assistance with information about a second man allegedly related to the terrorist attack that killed eight in lower Manhattan on Tuesday.

"He did this in the name of ISIS [Islamic State] and along with other items recovered at the scene were some notes that indicate that", said New York Deputy Police Commissioner John Miller.

He was slated to be arraigned on terrorism charges Wednesday night. Saipov was charged Wednesday in a criminal complaint after the Tuesday afternoon attack killed eight people near the World Trade Center.

Anyone with information is urged to call the FBI's toll-free tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI (5324).
