Spurs would rather have Harry Kane than Cristiano Ronaldo, says Jan Vertonghen

Spurs would rather have Harry Kane than Cristiano Ronaldo, says Jan Vertonghen

Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that his Tottenham Hotspur side can not show any fear when they face Real Madrid at Wembley on Wednesday evening in a Champions League group stage game.

Tottenham and Real are level on seven points at the top of Group H after a 1-1 draw in Madrid this month.

Kane missed back-to-back defeats at the hands of West Ham and Manchester United but took part in training at Hotspur Way on Tuesday, and Spurs Argentine boss seemed hopeful that his talismanic frontman would be available to face the current holders: "We are very confident, he is on the list, he explained".

"I think a lot of Pochettino, he is doing a great job with a good side", Zidane said.

Tottenham are still sweating on the fitness of striker Harry Kane ahead of Wednesday's clash after a hamstring tweak meant he was unable to feature at Old Trafford. We have a good game coming up tomorrow and we have to go out and try to get back to winning ways.

"The most important thing is to be competitive", said Pochettino.

Real Madrid have struggled of late anyway, having drawn two and lost two out of ten Liga games, going down to Girona at the weekend to give Barcelona an eight-point lead over the Merengues.

The Spurs centre-back has lauded the in-form hitman on the eve of the Lilywhites' Champions League clash with Los Blancos at Wembley.

"He shows that every week and I wouldn't swap Harry for any player at the moment". "We always want to win and show that we can manage the pressure. We'll take the best decision for him, first of all, and then for the team". Nothing will change in our approach, we are going out to win. It's not just me saying that, the results speak for themselves. "It was a great night, a great game to watch as a Spurs fan, so fingers crossed we can get the same sort of result". They'll hopefully be more expansive than their recent displays.

"I feel I work my best in these situations".
