Apple iOS 11.1 and watchOS 4.1 are here: What's new?

Apple iOS 11.1 and watchOS 4.1 are here: What's new?

The 3D Touch option to open the app switcher view has also been restored having been previously removed from the original iOS 11 release.

After releasing a few point updates for iOS 11 last month and this month, Apple is now pushing out a more significant release. It's been through many rounds of beta testing, too, so we sort of already knew that it was coming and what it might feature.

Here's how you can downgrade iOS 11.1 final version to iOS 11.0.3, iOS 11.0.2 or iOS 11.0.1 on iPhone, iPad or iPod.

iOS 11.1 features over 100 new emojis such as Woman with Headscarf, Bearded Person, Breastfeeding, Zombie and more. To get the update, just fire up the Settings app. Some existing emoji have also been updated with more realistic designs, such as the bee, dolphin, octopus, and snail. The first developer preview for iOS 11.2 arrived this week, bringing some small but exciting improvements to the operating system. The built-in keyboard even now offers up multiple emoji when using a related word.

iOS 11.1 delivers the long-promised new emoji as well as some important security fixes for iDevice owners.

Among the new arrivals is a host of new animals, including a giraffe and a zebra, as well as a new Chinese takeaway box and broccoli emoji.

The watchOS 4.1 update also brings the GymKit syncing, so users will be able to sync their activity with compatible gym equipment.
