Einstein's Handwritten Note On Theory Of Happiness Fetches $1.5 Million At Auction

Einstein's Handwritten Note On Theory Of Happiness Fetches $1.5 Million At Auction

A note that Albert Einstein gave to a courier in Tokyo briefly describing his theory on happy living sold at auction in Jerusalem on Tuesday for $1.56 million, the auction house said.

A second note, written around the same time, was also auctioned that was finally sold at United States dollars 240,000 (Rs 1,55,91,480), according to BBC News. Wiener would not reveal the names of the seller or buyer of the note.

The auction began at $2,000 and a series of bids pushed the price up rapidly until two final bidders competed by phone to own the historic piece.

It is reported that in November 1922, the great physicist, who came from lectures in Japan, recently learned about the awarding of the Nobel prize and paginasexo the first fruits of worldwide fame, was not at hand change for a tip.

The second note that Einstein wrote and simply reads "where there's a will, there's a way" fetched $240,000.

Almost 100 years later, the bellboy's nephew contacted the auction house in Israel to put the notes up for sale.

The $1.5m sale shocked everyone involved in the sale given that its pre-auction estimate was between $5,000 and $8,000 with the buyer, believed to be European, deciding to remain anonymous.

The seller was reported to be a relative of the messenger. However, what the note contains is Einstein's mantra for happiness.

The auction comes after Einstein left his literary estate and personal papers in Israel after founding the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

He said: "What we're doing here is painting the portrait of Einstein - the man, the scientist, his effect on the world - through his writings".

The world-renowned theoretical physicist Albert Einstein is known for presenting the world with the Theory of Relativity, but now he is making headlines for something else.

Perhaps Einstein would have settled for something more "calm and modest".
