He is now fourth on the team with 18 receptions and is slowly watching rookie receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster's role increase.
JuJu posted a video on Twitter Tuesday morning of him walking to practice saying, "man someobody stole my bike, I ain't got a bike no more, I'm walking to practice, this is insane".
"That'd be too easy (if there was no drama)", defensive end Cam Heyward said. "It's obvious we've still got more ground to cover with him because we're still having a conversation that's not football-related". But the Steelers can get him more than five over two games, which is his reality in back-to-back wins against Kansas City and Cincinnati.
"He was telling me about his frustrations and whatever, and he told me he's talked to the coaches", Roethlisberger said.
"And so, we came out and they gave me the quarters look, which says I'm supposed to run it, but it's still a decent look for a deep pass". We still think the Lions and Chiefs are two interesting clubs, along with the Jaguars, Jets and Bills - though the two AFC East teams are amid culture changes and may not want to deal with Bryant.
Bryant wants to be involved more in the offense.
"I just want to be happy, whether it's here or it's somewhere else", Bryant told the network. Smith-Schuster reported concussion-like symptoms late in the victory over the Bengals and is in the protocol. I worked my ass off to get myself back with no help and little support, period. Disgruntled teammate Martavis Bryant called out Smith-Schuster on Instagram, and then someone stole JuJu's beloved bike. He's a great player, great athlete.
Smith-Schuster also said Bryant's comments didn't bother him.
"There's only one ball", Smith-Schuster said. While he hasn't put up the big numbers that we know he's capable of, if tensions get bad enough between him and the Steelers, there's no question another team would welcome his services. "It's hard to spread it around".
The NFL's trade deadline is on October 31st.
Even though he still has two years on his rookie contract, any team trading for him would be taking a major risk.
What is clear: Bryant's displeasure with his role has been made known to the Steelers for weeks.
