Amazon Studios head Roy Price steps down amid harassment claims

Amazon Studios head Roy Price steps down amid harassment claims

Days after he was suspended indefinitely, Amazon Studios head Roy Price has resigned from the streaming company he'd started.

CNN speculated about whether Price resigned on his own or he was forced out by Amazon's board in light of Hackett's upcoming series and they wanted to avoid the negative publicity that might loom over the series ahead of its release had Price stayed on.

Price took a leave of absence last week and Albert Cheng, the studio's chief operating officer, remains interim head of the division, the spokeswoman said. The findings haven't been disclosed.

Price was caught up in the Weinstein sex scandal last week when it was claimed that he "ignored" the "Charmed" actress Rose McGowan when she told him she had been raped by Weinstein.

A day later, Amazon senior vice president Jeff Blackburn sent a memo to employees saying that the company did not tolerate harassment or abuse. Amazon did not receive any financing from TWC for either show, say those same sources.

"I feel inspired by the other women who have been far braver than I am, who have come forward", si She said one thing that can help change the "culture of harassment" in Hollywood is "an infusion of new and diverse leadership, not just including women but gay people, people of color, people with disabilities - people with the full spectrum of life experience". "I said I was the proof".

As for Price, his tenure at Amazon dates back to 2004.

Amazon's foray into scripted series has yielded mixed results, with a string of high-profile producers recently going public with their frustrations about working with the streamer. Price was also lambasted for his decision to cancel the well-reviewed drama Good Girls Revolt, with creator Dana Calvo singling out the executive for his failure to learn the characters' names. Hackett was at the convention to promote Man in the High Castle. Looking ahead, Amazon will turn its focus to more global event series a la Game of Thrones.
