North Korea warns Australia for supporting United States

North Korea warns Australia for supporting United States

The United Nations has imposed sanctions on the North for its weapons tests.

US and South Korean military officials believe North Korea is preparing to launch a ballistic missile ahead of an upcoming joint US-South Korean naval drill, according to a newspaper The Donga Ilbo, as reported by France24.com on Saturday.

The ruling party's powerful propaganda apparatus urged the executives to ensure that news stories on North Korea do not exacerbate public frustration and asked that stories are not covered in depth even if they are based on original information or perspectives, the sources said. There is also the possibility the regime may test a previously unseen missile, as it has done multiple times this year.

The 10-day exercises will see the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier, the USS Michigan nuclear-powered submarine, stealth fighters, and other American strategic assets arriving at the peninsula. In July, North Korea made two test launches of ballistic missiles.

Trump has said all options-including military-are on the table to stop Kim, and the White House ruled out talks with Pyongyang. He later said the United States had declared war and his country had the right to shoot down American warplanes flying in global airspace. The country has repeatedly threatened to launch a missile near the American territory in the Pacific.

North Korea also turned its focus on Australia at the weekend, warning the United States ally of the risks of siding with Trump. "Australia is showing unsafe moves of zealously joining the frenzied political and military provocations of the USA", the spokesman was quoted as saying, citing foreign minister Julie Bishop's visit last week to South Korea.

Some analysts suggested that North Korea might have been looking for the flawless time to maximize its impact of provocation, this time around when China holds the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party on Oct 18.

Australia's Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told reporters her country is committed to the North's denuclearization through diplomacy but is also ready for military action alongside the US.

Bishop said that the threat of war is now the greatest it has been in 60 years since the Korean War. "We hope not, but this seems to have been a pattern of behaviour".
