Trump brings NBC's 'license' into question after nuclear arsenal report

Trump brings NBC's 'license' into question after nuclear arsenal report

After the meeting in July, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson referred to Trump as a "moron", according to NBC.

Any increase in America's nuclear arsenal would not only break with decades of USA nuclear doctrine but also violate worldwide disarmament treaties signed by every president since Ronald Reagan. "Trump indicated he wanted a bigger stockpile, not the bottom position on that downward-sloping curve".

Mr Trump was quick to denounce the latest NBC story in an early morning tweet: "Fake @NBCNews made up a story that I wanted a "tenfold" increase in our US nuclear arsenal".

If you're looking to throw down some more cash on USA politics, Bovada is also offering betting lines on whether White House Chief of Staff John Kelly will stay in his job through 2017, which political party will win the 2020 election, and if Twitter will suspend President Trump's account this year.

It was the second time in a week that NBC had referenced the July meeting. "Bad for country!" he tweeted.

In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike North Korea with a nuclear weapon.

According to the network, Mr Trump had been shown a slide that showed the steady reduction of USA nukes since the late sixties, in line with post-cold war treaties. "Pure fiction, made up to demean", Trump tweeted.

Though it isn't logistically feasible to increase the USA nuclear arsenal in the dramatic manner Trump reportedly desires, his interest follows a troubling pattern.

On Wednesday afternoon, NBC's Peter Alexander reported that on the matter of the First Amendment, Trump said: "It is frankly disgusting the press is able to write whatever it wants to write".

Shortly after winning the election, Trump tweeted that America "must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes".

Instead, Conway said that she shares her concerns that the news media doesn't cover Trump "fully and fairly". "We will outmatch them at every pass and outlast them all".
