A New Nintendo Trademark Hints Of Classic Mini Game Boy

A New Nintendo Trademark Hints Of Classic Mini Game Boy

Though numerous categories are not related to the gaming, it may have been included to protect the Nintendo Classic Mini Game Boy brand, notes Kotaku. You can see the patent below, via a Japanese trademark Twitter bot. According to Rocket News 24, the name "Game Boy" wasn't actually part of the trademark filing, but that image is unmistakable.

Since conquering the threat of bankruptcy by making a spectacular comeback during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Nintendo is determined to live up to the hype by introducing another console for those who would like to go on a more nostalgic road compared to the futuristic Switch. We would not be surprised if Nintendo gave birth to a Game Boy Classic Edition, and not just because it would be a logical release given its recent success with retro gaming. The filing does cover a variety of "home video game console" programs, "programs for smartphones", and various clothing and accessory items such as watches, necklaces, smartphone covers and cases, and key holders.

No real details have been unveiled concerning the new trademark, although some outlets erroneously stated that "Game Boy Classic Mini" had been trademarked, which is in fact untrue.

Could this mean a Game Boy Classic Mini will be Nintendo's 2018 retro console release rather than then N64?

Let's review. Nintendo released a Classic Mini NES. The hack, which uses a Windows exploit program called hakchi2, allows you to add more games (or ROMs) to the system, apply custom background images to fill out the entirety of a 16:9 ratio screen, and enable a hidden "scanline" filter with a few tweaks. In 2005, the Japanese firm came up with a smaller version of the Game Boy Advance, dubbed as the Game Boy Micro.

Would you like Nintendo to do the Game Boy or the N64 next?
