Ceasefire violation by Pakistan: Six civilians injured in Arnia, J&K

Ceasefire violation by Pakistan: Six civilians injured in Arnia, J&K

A Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was killed in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Arnia sector of Jammu district in Jammu and Kashmir state on Friday, media reports said.

For the last four months, Pakistani troops have been resorting to unprovoked mortar shelling and small arms fire on the Indian side nearly daily.

Accompanied by senior officials of the health department, Singh interacted with the doctors at the hospital and enquired about the treatment being provided to the victims.

India alleged that Pakistani Rangers fired mortar shells and automatic rifles at border posts in five places along the Arnia sector, terming it as a violation of the 2003 ceasefire accord.

"One BSF trooper has been executed in truce infringement by Pakistan officers".

The jawan, identified as Captain Brijendra Bahadur Singh, later succumbed to his injuries.

A total of six persons, including women, have reportedly been injured in firing by Pakistan as it violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Arnia sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday evening. The firing started during the late night hours when villagers were busy carrying on with their daily chores in the houses and it triggered an instant panic. The injured have been rushed to a government hospital in Jammu.

"Intermittent fire continued from both sides from midnight till morning", the officer said.

Sources said that weapons and warlike stores have been recovered from the slain terrorists.

Panic has gripped scores of border residents living in villages close to the global border of R.S. Pura in Jammu.
