Patty Jenkins officially set to return for 'Wonder Woman' sequel

Patty Jenkins officially set to return for 'Wonder Woman' sequel

She's also continued to champion the film on social media, coming to its defense when director James Cameron said last month that "Wonder Woman" was a "step backwards" for women.

In June, Variety reported that Jenkins was working with DC's Geoff Johns to develop a script for the sequel. Varietybroke the news, saying that "While an exact number could not be unveiled, sources say the number is in the $8 million dollar range to write, direct and produce, making her the highest paid female director of all time". The movie almost single-handedly restored faith in the DCEU, and the upcoming Justice League movie may have undergone extensive reshoots to cast Wonder Woman in a more prominent light.

And Jenkins was more than ready to get back in the director's chair. Prior to the report, Jenkins told Entertainment Weekly she would set the potential sequel in the United States instead of Europe and it would be another period piece.

Gal Gadot will also reprise her role in the sequel which is expected to be released in theaters on December 13, 2019. The goal is to make another great Wonder Woman film.

The first Wonder Woman, released in July, was an instant success, both critically and commercially.

In what has been a snoozy and, for the film business, disappointing summer at the box office, "Wonder Woman" stands as a bright spot. Wonder Woman has eclipsed $800 million at the global box office, and Jenkins was paid $1 million for that job.
