Steelers lead Browns 14-7 at halftime of season opener in Cleveland

Browns rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer threw his first touchdown pass of his National Football League career with about four minutes left in the game.

As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers activated running back Le'Veon Bell to the 53-man roster on Saturday and he is now eligible to play in the regular season opener against the Cleveland Browns.

Kizer's touchdown pass cut the Pittsburgh Steelers lead to three.

But then DeShone Kizer was given time to work and tied the game up at 7-7 heading into the second quarter.

The Steelers took a 14-7 lead after a touchdown catch from Jesse James.

Roethlisberger improved to 21-2 in his career against the Browns, who gave their rivals all they could handle - a positive sign for coach Hue Jackson and Cleveland fans after a horrid 1-15 season. As the younger brother of Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, expectations are already sky-high, and he'll inevitably be compared to his older brother, at least at the beginning of his career. Bell wants to make almost double that, though he believes he should be compensated for his major role in Pittsburgh's passing game.

It was unique game at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday as the Cleveland Browns came in with a four-game preseason winning streak and the Pittsburgh Steelers came in as an actual NFL football team.

Roethlisberger passed for 263 yards. He finished the first half 9/14 passing for 73 yards, and was sacked three times.

Scoring Play: Anthony Chickillo recovers blocked punt in the end zone.

But the Browns couldn't stop Pro Bowl wide receiver Antonio Brown, who made a leaping catch in traffic for 38 yards with 2:26 left to seal Pittsburgh's win.
