Taylor Swift Teases New Something With Snake/Dragon Tail

Taylor Swift Teases New Something With Snake/Dragon Tail

The star deleted her Twitter and Facebook avatar picture and header, while also deleting her posts on Tumblr and Instagram.

On Monday (Aug. 21), Swift shared a cryptic 10-second video on her socials that shows what some believe is a magnified snake's tail.

For all intents and purposes, Swift's attempt to disassociate herself from the slithering creature - or at least keep her feed from "look [ing] like the Reptile Discovery Center at the National Zoo", as Wired writer Nicholas Thompson described it - appeared to be working.

Yesterday, fans practically lost it on the internet when the new reptilian snippet appeared on Swift's social media pages.

Knowing Taylor Swift's ability to brilliantly create a catchy tune, many hope the song has hissing sounds sampled into it. However, on Friday, she wiped all the content of her accounts, sending fans into shock.

Then, yesterday, she posted a grainy video of a snake on every account she owned.

If she's planning to return to her traditional schedule this year, she'll need to release a new single about three months before she plans to release her album in order to build buzz - in other words, she needs to release new music in August.

According to Us Weekly, the first single from Swift's sixth album will be released on Friday, followed by a music video and a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. She knows there's a demand for a new album and has really started focusing on making that happen for fans.

Also a year ago, Taylor denied she knew that Kanye West had planned to name check her in his song, "Famous". After the phenomenal album that was 1989 many can't wait to see what she's done this time.

It's the most media-ready narrative, not to mention Swift has a history of slyly addressing private preoccupations in her songs, but the theory ignores one sticky point: it doesn't really look like a snake, does it? And also, why do people call Taylor Swift a snake in the first place? Castastrophe was obviously Taylor's character name in HER diss track, "Bad Blood".
