Arsene Wenger: 'Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continuing to mature'

Arsene Wenger: 'Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continuing to mature'

Arsenal's new offer is short of his desired contract, and unless they make an improved offer, Arsenal fans might have to accept that Chamberlain will not be their player for much longer.

The England global has entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal deal to prompt speculation about his long-term future.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is demanding a new £120k-a-week deal in order to stay with Arsenal, amid interest from the Gunners' Premier League rivals, according to reports.

Arsenal have tried to tie Oxlade-Chamberlain down to a new contract, but so far, the player's representative has rejected all the offers.

Aside from Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez, one player whose future is surrounded in unknowns is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Reports have suggested the 23-year-old is looking for a fresh challenge after growing frustrated at Arsenal, with Liverpool thought to be the midfielder's preferred destination.

Arsenal boast a stunning 17 additional players to their London counterparts and Chelsea's expediency in dispensing with players has left them in what appears to be a perilous position.

Conte sees Oxlade-Chamberlain as having the potential to operate from the wing-back position, a key part of the system he brought in at Stamford Bridge last season.

The Blues have launched a £35m bid to get him, and Oxlade-Chamberlain is interested in making the move.

"I think in his career he had some bad moments because he had some small injuries", he told reporters. Today he is conscious of his qualities.
