"Despacito" Is Breaking Records and It's All Because of You

What the global takeover looked like. Universal Music launched the "India Dance Video" of "Despacito" in collaboration with National Award-winning choreographer Shiamak Davar recently. As I type this, the original version has been viewed 2,994,524,361 times, meaning that it's a sure thing to be the first-ever 3-billion-plus song on the site.

The superstar collaboration, featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean, is now at number two and only 500 sales behind summer smash-hit, Despacito, with four days still to go before the official list is released.

YouTube released a chart showing how "Despacito" stacks up to other top videos. And these numbers don't include the audio video of the song's remix, featuring Justin Bieber, which had the biggest YouTube debut of 2017 and now stands at over 464 million views.

"Despacito" is on track to become the first video to reach three billion views on YouTube.

"I'm super excited and grateful to everyone who supported the song and video on YouTube, and happy to inspire and impact so many lives", Khalifa said in a statement.

"Wow", Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee, who is featured on 'Despacito', said to his almost 17 million followers on Instagram.

"YouTube's platform has been key to the success of 'Despacito.' The music industry has changed, the rules of music have changed and I fully recognize YouTube's role and the power of its platform".

And "Despacito" is clearly leading the charge.
