Filipino president says will never visit 'lousy America'

Filipino president says will never visit 'lousy America'

Speier's California district is home to the largest Filipino community in the continental US, and she said she has heard "increasing concerns" from constituents "appalled" by alleged human rights violations in the Philippines.

With the election of Donald Trump to the White House, many analysts suggested that their apparent similarities could see closer ties restored.

He added: "There will never be a time during my administration that I'll be going to America or thereafter ..."

"I saw America and it sucks".

Duterte, 72, won elections a year ago on a promise to kill tens of thousands of criminals to prevent the Philippines from becoming a narco-state.

The democratic representative James McGovern has said that the president of the philippines would never had to be invited to Washington, d.c. and that it would be in the forefront of the demonstrations against his coming adventure whether Mr. Duterte is made in the United States. In the first year of his presidency, he has visited 16 sovereign countries.

"Sabi ko we will just have to wait it out ... baril-barilan lang kayo diyan" (I said we will just have to wait it out ... just pretend shooing) but warned against mounting an assault as the enemy might harm the civilians or even behead them.

McGovern in his opening statement said a man with the human rights record of Duterte should not be invited to the White House.

Despite criticism from human rights advocates, President Duterte still enjoys high popularity and trust ratings among Filipinos based on recent surveys.

"I think it is important for members of Congress in a bipartisan way to make our concerns known loudly and clearly", he added.

The president also hit back at the US Congress, saying it should investigate America's alleged human rights violations in the Philippines and in the Middle East.

"Otherwise, I will be forced to investigate you also. I will start with your past sins".

"The universality of human rights presupposes due process be observed by all and as such, any proceedings that allege wrongdoing should provide the opportunity for all sides to be considered", Abella said.
