South Africa's Morris has no qualms over freakish Roy exit

Chris Morris bowled a brilliant spell picking two wickets and conceding just 18 runs in four overs as South Africa made a strong comeback to edge out England by three runs in the second Twenty20 worldwide in Taunton to level the series 1-1.

South Africa beat England by just three runs to win the second T20I and level the three-match series at 1-1.

A tour that had already seen the Proteas lose a one-day worldwide series to England 2-1, and cement their reputation as serial under-achievers at major events with a first-round exit at the Champions Trophy ODI tournament before Wednesday's nine-wicket thrashing in the first Twenty20, was heading for yet another defeat while Surrey opener Roy was making a stylish 67 at Taunton on Friday.

"They (South Africa) were certainly entitled to appeal and the spirit of the game is open to interpretation".

Speaking to Sky Sports 2, England captain Morgan said: "It was a turning point".

"You could see why he gave it out". I thought it was 50/50, and I can see why it was given. "We didn't deserve to win because we didn't capitalise on the start we had".

"We'll take it and run, but the on-field umpire told me at the time that the right decision was made".

But when he chipped a full, inswinging delivery from the excellent Chris Morris to mid-on, it initiated a collapse that saw England lose five wickets for 42 runs in the next six overs.

It was an entertaining game for the Somerset crowd, enjoying the first global contest at their ground since the 1999 World Cup.

With Jos Buttler and captain Eoin Morgan falling not long after, the hosts were left needing 12 runs to win off the final over, which was bowled by Andile Phehlukwayo.

Debutant Tom Curran had earlier taken 3-33 to restrict the AB de Villiers' side to what looked to be an under-par 174-8.

The deciding game is in Cardiff on Sunday, when the teams are playing for this T20 series but also a solid psychological advantage ahead of the test series starting next month.

Curran, the son of the late former Zimbabwe global Kevin Curran, struck with just his second ball in worldwide cricket when Reeza Hendricks bottom-edged a pull into his stumps.

England dropped two catches, with mid-off fielder Chris Jordan and on-side boundary rider Liam Livingstone guilty as charged.

South Africa's total of 174 for eight, de Villiers' top-scoring with 46, was a significant improvement on Wednesday's 142 for three.

Mangaliso Mosehle fell shortly after, while Jon-Jon Smuts smashed 45 off 35 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes, before he was dismissed by Liam Dawson. He had made 67 off 45 balls and England was in a strong position when he was in the middle.
