Authorities: Texas mom left 2 kids in hot car as punishment

Authorities: Texas mom left 2 kids in hot car as punishment

Now, authorities are claiming that a north Texas mom by the name of Cynthia Marie Randolph left her 2-year-old daughter and 16-month-old son alone in a hot auto for hours. She said she found the kids in the auto, that they had locked themselves inside and that she broke the vehicle window in an attempt to save them.

She went inside, smoked marijuana, and took a nap for around three hours, on a day where temperatures reached the mid-30s.

Sixteen-month-old Cavanaugh Ramirez and two-year-old Juliet Ramirez were found dead in a sedan. She said that she was folding laundry and watching TV when she realized her kids were gone. The body Kaytlynn Cargill was found at an Arlington landfill, 15 minutes away from her home in Bedford. Randolph stated she spent the next 30 to 40 minutes searching for her children. She said the kids got in the auto on their own and locked themselves in. This bill requires all new cars to come equipped with a device that alerts the owner of the vehicle if the child is left behind after the auto is shut off.

"When she woke, the defendant found her children in her vehicle, unresponsive", authorities added.

Emergency medical personnel was contacted.

Both kids were pronounced dead at about 4:30 p.m., according to FOX4. A sheriff's spokeswoman did not immediately return a call Saturday afternoon, and jail records do not list an attorney for Randolph. This is a parenting skill that was missed by Cynthia Marie Randolph, 25, who was charged on Friday, June 23, 2017. Through multiple interviews with investigators over the past month, Randolph "created several variations of the events" of May 26, police said.

On Friday, the Texas Rangers and a Dallas-based senior federal special agent conducted an interview with Randolph, where she implicated herself in the deaths of her children. Her daughter, Juliet Ramirez, 2, and 1-year-old son, Cavanaugh Ramirez, had been playing in the vehicle without their mother's permission, and her daughter refused to get out of the auto when Randolph ordered her to get out, so to teach her children a "lesson", Randolph left them inside the auto.

Randolph said that after she closed the vehicle door on her two children she went inside her residence and smoked marijuana, then took a two-to-three hour nap, according to a news release from the Parker County Sheriff's Office. Even though, my mom could be completely nuts, she would never try to teach my brother and I a lesson by leaving us defenseless in a hot locked vehicle.
