Nigel Farage "Concerned" After Trump's State Visit Is Put In Doubt

The monarch reads the speech on behalf of the government.

Theresa May has vowed to overcome the divisions in British society exposed in this month's General Election and to build consensus on Brexit, as she ditched or watered down numerous flagship policies from the Conservative manifesto.

Agreeing, another added: "Apparently the Queen dressed as the EU flag I bet she voted to remain in the European Union".

The Queen had been seen at the State Opening of Parliament wearing blue, but by the time she arrived at the Berkshire racecourse she had changed into yellow.

The monarch was determined, though, to make certain she attended the Royal Ascot procession, and her resolve offered a brief moment of levity in the House of Commons.

Cancel the state visit and tell Trump where to get off'.

In January, Downing Street said Mr Trump's visit to Britain was just "months away", with reports later suggesting it had been scheduled for October.

May dropped key manifesto pledges from her government's programme, after an election fiasco that has left her position highly vulnerable.

The Queen flagged her government's intentions to continue looking for resolution to conflicts raging in the Middle East.

May's gamble of calling snap polls spectacularly backfired as Conservatives won 318 out of 650 seats while the opposition Labour secured 262, leaving neither party anywhere close to the 326 seats required for an overall majority.

But his claim to head a "government in waiting" was given short shrift by the PM, who mockingly praised him for having "fought a spirited campaign and come a good second".

Jeremy Corbyn caused outrage on social media when the Labour leader failed to bow for the Queen before the State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday.

Although the tally of bills unveiled by the Queen was not particularly small, critics said that aside from Brexit it presented only a lightweight agenda to cover two years, rather than the usual one.

The NFU says it is looking forward to working with the new Parliament - across all parties - as the new Agriculture Bill is formally announced in the Queen's Speech.

Other priorities outlined in the speech include a Civil Liberty Bill, legislation to address domestic violence and powers to authorise the second phase of works on the High Speed Two rail line.

Liberal Democrat chief whip Alistair Carmichael said the state visit should be called off once and for all.
