Trump Lashes Out At Investigators After Reports Of Obstruction Of Justice Inquiry

President Donald Trump, in a furious Friday morning message, said he is being investigated for his role in firing former FBI Director James Comey and seemed to accuse the deputy attorney general of overseeing a "witch hunt" against him.

Trump is accused of firing FBI Director James Comey over his refusal to steer the Russian Federation investigation away from former national security adviser Mike Flynn, a Trump ally.

Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, sent out spokespeople and surrogates with a far-fetched cover story to explain the dismissal, and then told NBC's Lester Holt that the real reason for the firing was Comey's pursuit of the Russian Federation investigation.

Every couple of weeks since Donald Trump became president, the scandals, the mini and the major, besetting his administration reach a point where people start talking about the ascendance of Vice President Mike Pence to the highest office in the land.

Mueller is investigating Russian interference in US elections and possible Russian ties to the Trump campaign.

Trump did not respond to shouted questions from the media as he was leaving the White House lawns to board Marine One for the Joint Andres Air Force Base for his day-long trip to Florida.

To the contrary: Thanks to The Washington Post, we now know that collusion is only one of three subject areas that the FBI investigation, now led by special counsel Robert Mueller, is exploring.

ABC said Mr Rosenstein told Associate Attorney-General Rachel Brand she would have authority over the probe if he were to step aside.

In another indication of the seriousness of the probe, Michael Cohen, a personal attorney to Trump, said he has retained attorney Stephen Ryan, a former assistant USA attorney, to represent him in the ongoing probes.

The president has denied trying to influence the investigation but has acknowledged in an interview that Russian Federation was on his mind when he dismissed Comey. Rosenstein had written a scathing memo criticizing Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, which the White House initially cited as the impetus for Comey's ouster. Mueller has been choosing his own staff, tapping top legal minds from inside and outside the Justice Department.

Trump is under pressure to reveal whether he has any tape recordings of private conversations with Comey. Rep.

Moscow has denied any interference.

In the past, he has frequently used the term "Fake News Media" for outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post and CNN.

As the legal rope has tightened, his allies have gone on the offensive, questioning Mueller's credibility.

"I took it as a very disturbing thing, very concerning, but that's a conclusion I'm sure the special counsel will work towards, to try and understand what the intention was there, and whether that's an offense", Comey said during Senate testimony on June 8, referring to alleged comments made by Trump that hinted at slowing investigations into former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Although USA Today also noted that the tweet came shortly after a Washington Post report that Mueller's team is also investigating Trump son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner's business dealings.
