Muguruza advances to 4th round at French Open

A ruthless Rafael Nadal permitted just one game demolishing Nikoloz Basilashvili to roar into the Roland Garros fourth round.

Nadal will meet compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut for a spot in the quarter-finals.

The biggest cheer of the match came when Basilashvili, a little-known 25-year-old ranked 63, finally won a game at 6-0 5-0. Nadal was more forgiving in the second set, with Basilashvili winning 10 points.

Elsewhere on Day 6 at Roland Garros, 10th-seeded David Goffin stopped playing after turning his ankle when he tripped on a tarp at the back of the court in the first set against Horacio Zeballos; No. 5 Milos Raonic advanced when his opponent, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, quit because of a left thigh injury; No. 20 Pablo Carreno Busta eliminated No. 11 Grigor Dimitrov 7-5, 6-3, 6-4; and No. 6 Dominic Thiem was a 6-1, 7-6 (4), 6-3 victor against No. 25 Steve Johnson, an American who generated sympathy from fans and foes as he displayed raw emotion while competing just weeks after the death of his father. "He was happy to have gone through the first two matches and he could not bear it any more", Raonic told reporters.

- Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta outplayed 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov 7-5 6-3 6-4 to set up a fourth round clash against Milos Raonic. "I take it when I can have it".

While it's hard to say based on the opponents he has faced, Nadal still looks like he has gears to go up throughout the second week of the tournament.

Belgian 10th seed David Goffin was forced to retire from his third-round encounter against Argentine Horacio Zeballos after slipping and hurting his ankle.

Goffin was leading 5-4 when he chased down the ball towards the back of the Suzanne Lenglen court.

Goffin wrenched his ankle in a sickening incident after scrambling to hit a lobbed backhand victor, only to land heavily on tarpaulins at the back of the court.

Nine-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal has advanced to the last 16 with a straight-sets victory in the third round.

For example, it took Basilashvili until the 12th game of the match to register on the scoreboard. "But too many unforced errors from my side".

Agassi has been married to 22-time Grand Slam victor Graf since 2001, and it was she who inspired the American to work with Djokovic, who opted to part company with his entire coaching staff May.

- Defending champion Garbine Muguruza claimed a 7-5 6-2 victory over Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan to reach the fourth round.

Spanish 23-year-old Muguruza will face either French 13th seed Kiki Mladenovic or unseeded Shelby Rogers of the United States for a place in the quarterfinals.

It was not plain sailing, however, and despite racing into a 4-0 lead in the fourth set, Djokovic became embroiled in a row with umpire Ramos after receiving two warnings in a game - one of slow play, the second for unsportsmanlike conduct. Ostapenko, 19, downed Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko 6-1, 6-4 before admitting the Brazilian rhythms of the Samba are key to her success.

"And it's going to take a lot of work if I want to play on center court and play good match against him. My favourite dance is the Samba".
