McCain weighs in on Kushner's reported request for Russian Federation back channel

Trump worked the phones with various lawyers and advisers on Sunday, one of the White House officials said.

Trump, who made no public appearances Sunday, was expected to deliver remarks at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.

A rally planned Thursday in Iowa was postponed due to "an unforeseen change" in Trump's schedule.

- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 28, 2017 It is my opinion that numerous leaks coming out of the White House are fabricated lies made up by the #FakeNews media. He focused heavily on leaks - both those coming out of the White House and an intelligence leak blamed on Americans about this week's deadly bombing at a concert in England. But he said that as long as the information was shared with the US government, it didn't represent a problem. Gave me full details!

"It is my opinion that numerous leaks coming out of the White House are fabricated lies made up by the #FakeNews media", he wrote.

The White House is considering restructuring its communications staff.

Kushner discussed the idea with Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak in December, as the Trump team was preparing its transition to the White House after its unexpected election victory a month earlier.

"I don't like it", the Republican lawmaker said Monday in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's "7:30" when asked about President Donald Trump's son-in-law's possible ties to Russian Federation.

What does the White House say?

. "And now, the question is, how is this handled?" "In addition to that, and perhaps more importantly, he is a very good person".

Lewandowski's return would be a particularly notable development, given the fact that he was sacked by Trump after clashing with staff and Trump's adult children.

Still, Trump and his aides are starting to take the probes more seriously, seeking to establish a communications team dedicated to dealing with questions around the probe and beefing up his legal representation.

On his "big foreign trip", as he called it, Trump repeatedly talked about Russian Federation and the ongoing investigation, according to an ally close to the White House.

However, on the very next day, Mr Trump told the visiting Russian Foreign Minister it was because Comey was probing into possible collusion between the Trump campaign team and Russia to influence the 2016 presidential election - that was the real reason he sacked him.

The back channel was meant to connect Michael Flynn, who later became Trump's first national security adviser, with Russian military leaders, the AP reported.

United States intelligence agencies concluded a year ago that Russian Federation used hacking and leaking of emails in an effort to harm Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and ultimately help Trump win.

Before departing Italy for the U.S., White House officials refused to address the reports about Kushner.

"I've seen no evidence that they succeeded, but they tried", he went on.

As a possible shakeup looms, Trump has other issues to deal with on the home front. He has signaled he will make a decision on whether to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement.
