Ariana Grande planning benefit concert in Manchester

Ariana Grande planning benefit concert in Manchester

"Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder, and to live more kindly and generously than we did before", she writes in the letter. Grande shared a moving note about the Manchester bombing in which she grieves for all affected by this unspeakable tragedy, honors her fans, and shares her plan to host a benefit event.

Grande, whose fan base is dominated by girls and young women, said she had seen a "beautiful, diverse, pure, happy crowd".

She did not announce a date for the concert.

"There is nothing I or anyone can do to take away the pain you are feeling or to make this better", she wrote.

"I want to thank my fellow musicians and friends for reaching out to be part of our expression of love for Manchester", she said in a letter posted Friday to social media. "A place for them to escape, to celebrate, to heal, to feel safe and to be themselves ... this will not change that". Further uplifting the United Kingdom community, she added her profound admiration for those coping with the event in inspirational and positive ways.

The attack occurred soon after her concert at the Manchester Arena ended Monday night, as the lights went up and thousands of concert-goers filed toward the exits.

"From the day we started putting the Dangerous Woman Tour together, I said that this show, more than anything else, was meant to be a safe space for my fans", she continued. Soon after the terror attack, Grande chose to suspend her Dangerous Woman world tour for at least two weeks. She flew home on Tuesday after releasing a brief message saying she felt "broken". "I have been thinking of my fans, and of you all, nonstop over the past week".

In a touching passage, Grande also explains how she hoped the shows on her Dangerous Woman Tour would be "a safe space for my fans".
