Time is running out to register to vote

Numbers tripled to more than 100,000 for the 2015 general election and then again more than doubled for the referendum, with around 264,000 registered at the end of past year. Voters are being advised to check that they are registered to vote in the election, on June 8, and to check whether they will need to cast their vote in a different way during the holiday season.

If you are already registered and have chosen to vote by post, your postal voting ballot paper will be delivered from Saturday, May 20.

The deadline for registering to vote is on Monday.

How are they positioned ahead of the snap General Election on 8 June? According to data from the electoral register, 591,730 people under the age of 25 have applied to register, and a further 599,371 between the ages of 25 and 34 have also signed up.

Vote, you Nigel. Even if it isn't a popular choice, just vote.

"The general election registration deadline is fast approaching".

Some 87% of homeowners are registered - only 56% of private renters are.

You do not need to do this if you were registered to vote at the European Union referendum, and you have not changed address.

To find their details, enter your postcode on the Your Vote Matters website, which will give you the contact details of your local electoral registration office.

Anyone who is not already registered should visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote - and make sure you have your National Insurance number to hand.

You can not vote if you have been legally excluded from doing so.
