Kimberly Guilfoyle May Be Latest From Fox News to Join White House

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle reignited the latest round of speculation over Spicer's job, telling The Mercury News she has had conversations with administration officials about taking over as press secretary.

Guilfoyle told the Mercury News that she has that type of relationship with Trump, whom she first met at a charity event when she moved to NY back in 2004.

A former prosecutor in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Guilfoyle was married for four years to then-San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom, who is now serving as California lieutenant governor. Still, that doesn't fully excuse the stumbles last week, such as when Spicer avoided reporters rather than answer questions, or Sanders' accusation that Comey had committed political "atrocities" as Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

A Fox News spokeswoman did not immediately return a request for comment. "For a president who baselessly accused his predecessor of illegally wiretapping him, that Mr. Trump would suggest that he, himself, may have engaged in such conduct is staggering".

Asked if he was "moving so quickly that his communications department can not keep up with him", Trump said yes and suggested his solution: "We don't have press conferences, we just don't have them, unless I have them every two weeks and I do them myself. They get great ratings from me, and yet they don't treat us fairly". Monday, Fox News's Sean Hannity called for less transparency from a White House spinning out of control.

"If the White House follows this plan, I think the destroy-Trump propaganda media will have a much harder time misrepresenting the Trump administration positions and you, the American people, will be better served", he said. "You know Sean Spicer, he is a wonderful human being, he's a nice man".

President Donald Trump denied allegations of collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives in an interview Saturday night on Fox News, adding, however, that he wants "to get to the bottom" of the questions about Russian influence in the election.

Having been armed myself with a flimsy explanation and sent out to do battle against a bloodthirsty press (hello, Mike Duffy!), I can tell you there is no worse feeling than fighting the good fight only to have your boss undercut you after you've been cut to pieces. And, somewhat paradoxically, all you have to do is take Donald Trump's word for it. But she said that wouldn't be a problem.

"He said, 'I had no idea that that's what she was gonna talk about ..."

"I really love what I do, and this job is tough to beat", she said. Do you think they need to tone it down? "At the same time, life is exciting and it's about different chapters in your life, so I'm excited about the future".
