Car dragged along highway after collision with tractor-trailer

Car dragged along highway after collision with tractor-trailer

A driver says he's thankful to be alive after getting his auto wedged beneath a truck and dragged for miles on a California highway - a white-knuckle moment caught on camera thanks to a quick-thinking motorist.

According to KERO, Brian Steimke was cruising up Interstate 15 through the Cajon Pass when he spotted a red Nissan being dragged along the highway by a tractor trailer.

The driver says he's lucky to be alive after he was dragged 4-miles up the I-15 freeway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck, which was hauling 50,000 pounds of carrots, was traveling up the pass when it approached a slower-moving truck. The sedan, driven by a 34-year-old Oak Hills man, became lodged underneath the first semitruck and was dragged almost 3/4 of a mile, the CHP said in a statement. Steimke asked the truck driver.

Steimke said the man was dragged along the freeway in his vehicle for at least four miles.

The witness filming the incident sped ahead of the conjoined vehicles and eventually confronted the truck driver after four miles. Steimke said he could hardly believe what was taking place in front of him.

Neither driver requested medical care, CHP officials said.

Horns honk in the background as the truck finally comes to a stop in lanes.
