The BBC Dad Shares His Thoughts on That Viral Video

The BBC Dad Shares His Thoughts on That Viral Video

It started as a live TV interview like any other for expert on Asian affairs, Robert Kelly but ended up everywhere when his children made a decision to crash the show by paying their dad a surprise visit. Prof Kelly's wife is Jung-a Kim, she made a few attempts to duck below the camera while dragging her kids out the office, those attempts clearly didn't work. In this case, the rest of the family had been watching him on the TV in their living room as he conducted the interview in his office. It was her birthday and she'd just celebrated it at her school. Kim held baby James on her lap. He also says they normally keep the door locked during interviews.

Jung-a admitted that their children barging into her husband's study is nothing new, but this marks their first live TV appearance doing so. His fast-acting wife, Kim Jung-A, swooped in and pulled the children from the room. "I saw the video like everybody else and it's really amusing", he said. "It was chaos for me".

For his Wednesday BBC interview, the professor was joined by his whole family.

In the moments after the interview, Professor Kelly and his wife told the BBC they were "mortified" about what happened and feared the little mishap had ruined Professor Kelly's continuing relationship with the network.

"It was amusing", Kelly admitted about the whole scenario.

"I mean it was terribly cute", Professor Kelly told the WSJ.

"My wife did a great job cleaning up a really unanticipated situation as best she possibly could.it was amusing", he told the paper.

"And I'm not even going near YouTube or Reddit or whatever these other sites are", he said.

Although Kelly was straight-faced and rather embarrassed during the untimely interruption, and Jung-A was in a blind panic trying to swiftly extricate them from the room, it looks like they both have seen the amusing side of things in retrospect.

"We were anxious actually that the BBC would never call us again", said Kelly.

In the days that followed, Kelly was forced to put his phone on airplane-mode after being barraged with social media notifications and calls from journalists.
