New iPhone Production Volume Expected to Hit 100 Million

New iPhone Production Volume Expected to Hit 100 Million

Once people are already spending that much, there's a good chance that they'll spend a little extra and get the iPhone 8.

The agency estimates that Apple will produce at least 10 million units of the new iPhones this year, while the iPhone 8 with AMOLED display will make up the greatest share. Apple sold 78.9 million iPhones in its fiscal first quarter, which covered the final calendar quarter of 2016. iPhone revenue was $54.3 billion of Apple's $78.4 billion in revenue for the period.

TrendForce agency revealed estimations about Apple's iPhone production this year. The production volume of all iPhone devices for 2017 is projected to total around 230 million units, representing an annual increase of nearly 6%. In terms of memory specifications, the 5.5-inch model will have 3GB while the 4.7-inch model will have 2GB. The disappearance of the home button will make the device more compact without sacrificing the display area. The smartphone is expected to come with a 5.8-inch display and 2k resolution, alongside 2.5D glass on top.

TrendForce says the iPhone 8 display will not feature curved edges, as "there are issues with the 3D glass regarding production yield and drop test results". That means the basic model is double the 32GB offered as the lowest storage tier for the iPhone 7. The report also mentions that the iPhone 8 will incorporate 3D Sensing technology that would provide facial recognition and features for augmented reality.

The iPhone 8 with two different storage options-64GB and 256GB-according to a new report from Chinese research firm Trendforce.

At launch it was available with 16 GB or 64 GB of internal storage. Sure, you can buy iCloud storage for a couple bucks a month, but the more logical solution for Apple would be to have a base option fo 64GB, much like most flagship Android phones.

The other two upcoming iPhone models are sized 5.5 and 4.7 inches, respectively. Nevertheless, TrendForce says that the high-end iPhone 8 will account for at least 40% of units - despite the higher prices.
