Costa's Chelsea future in doubt after Conte row

Costa's Chelsea future in doubt after Conte row

Antonio Conte will hope his Chelsea team have gotten over the disappointment of their 13-match Premier League run ending and beat Leicester City to strengthen their grip on the title.

Of greater worry for Chelsea fans is the fact that the Telegraph makes direct reference to the massive offer from China for the 28-year-old.

However, the unnamed Chinese Super League outfit said to be courting the Premier League's current top scorer (14 goals) are willing to hand Costa a sum worth nearly four times his current salary.

Conte said at his press conference on Friday afternoon that he had at least one decision to take in terms of his selection for the Leicester game.

With Costa out, Conte may opt to stick with Michy Batshuayi up front after he scored in the win over Peterborough last weekend while John Terry is suspended following his dismissal in the FA Cup. "I don't want to give an advantage to our opponent".

"For my club, for my players to solve our problem if there are problems, it's important".

The Italian is said to have backed his physios over their concerns, leading to the row between player and manager; with reports that the former Atletico Madrid man's representatives are sounding out a possible move to the Chinese Super League. Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses got a full rest last time out and they are expected to return.

Diego Costa has reportedly instructed his representatives to put out feelers for a lucrative contract from Chinese clubs, and this could signal the beginning of the end of his career at Chelsea.

"The Leicester game is important as we must start to win again", the Chelsea manager said yesterday.

The 28-year-old nearly departed Stamford Bridge in the summer, before being persuaded to stay by Conte.

The headache over Costa could also influence Conte's decisions over strikers during the January transfer market.

However, this time around, it can actually lead to Costa's exit from the club with a staggering offer from China on the table.
