Lions Sign TE Logan Thomas To Practice Squad

Lions Sign TE Logan Thomas To Practice Squad

Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Logan Thomas has signed with the Detroit Lions practice squad as a tight end.

Thomas turned the heads of several National Football League scouts when he first burst onto the scene as Virginia Tech's quarterback in 2011 and was even touted as a potential first round draft pick. The Dolphins let him go last summer and he latched on with the New York Giants for training camp.

Now he's switching positions and getting another shot in the NFL.

The Bills, however, have confirmed a flurry of moves, including promoting defensive tackle Deandre Coleman and wideout Dezmin Lewis to the active roster from the practice squad.

"There comes a day when you kind of got to say, 'OK, ' " Logan told MLive.com in an article published Tuesday.

"I caught one touchdown from him; why not catch some more?" "I've been blessed with a lot of opportunity and the size, speed and athleticism that I was given to by God". Ever since I decided to make that change it's been insane.

Thomas said several teams had approached him about playing tight end, but that he never gave it serious thought until recently. The 25-year-old has two career appearances, both with the Cardinals in 2014.

"(Coming out of college I didn't think about it) very much because I knew I had a high ceiling as a quarterback", Thomas said.

"They put a good plan together for the rest of the season, and going into the offseason", Thomas said.

"I'm in kindergarten when these guys are at a pro level", Thomas joked Monday with Detroit media, via the Detroit Free Press. Tim Tebow signed with the New England Patriots as a hybrid tight end but was released before the regular season, while Terrelle Pryor has flourished as a wide receiver with the Cleveland Browns.
