Bayern Munich beaten by FC Rostov in Russian Federation

Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti insisted complacency was not a factor as their recent slump continued with a surprise 3-2 Champions League reverse at Rostov.

Matchday five in the UEFA Champions League see's Carlo Ancelotti's Bayern Munich side travel to Russian Federation to face FC Rostov, looking to keep pace with table-toppers Atletico Madrid ahead of the big showdown in two weeks time.

The remaining two rounds of games will be to determine which team tops the group and who out of Rostov and PSV Eindhoven finishes third to qualify for the Europa League.

Bayern lost their place at the top of the Bundesliga last weekend when they were beaten by Borussia Dortmund.

The visitors eventually broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Renato Sanches's shot was deflected into the path of Douglas Costa, who fired the ball into the roof of the net.

Bayern almost broke the deadlock after 23 minutes, but Dzhanaev produced a fine save to keep out Holger Badstuber's towering header.

Aleksandr Erokhin capitalised on a mix-up between the pair to head goalwards beyond the on-rushing Ulreich, with Bernat reacting quickly to intercept and clear the danger. Azmoun charged into the Bayern box and sent Jerome Boateng sprawling with a smart feint before hitting the ball low past Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, starting in place of the rested Manuel Neuer.

The cold air exposed Poloz's heavy breathing ahead of a huge penalty, but the attacker kept his cool to find the bottom-right corner.

But Bayern's response was immediate.

Arsenal passed up the opportunity to assure themselves of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League as group winners after being held to an entertaining draw at home to Paris St Germain.
