Hungary's Hosszu wins 3rd gold in 4 days

His third place position in the time trial at Rio 2016 has been described as a "fantastic achievement" and testament to his commitment to the sport, bringing in Team GB's seventh medal of the Games.

After she claimed her Olympic medal O'Connor said, "It is an absolutely awesome feeling". It is brilliant and I am over the moon with that result. But you move on and every time I've raced this week I've got faster and faster.

The men's relay team had arrived in Brasil as world champions but came up against a formidable U.S. team, which featured swimming legend Michael Phelps, who boasts an incredible 21 Olympic goal medals. "I'm really pleased to push her as hard as I could".

The 4 x 200 team, led by 200m freestyle world champion James Guy, came from behind in a nailbiting finish to clinch second in the last metres of the race. The way he handled himself and his professionalism taught me so much. In the past I've gone out too... Her time of 2:06.88 was a British record.

"I just had to swim it how I know best and when I turned on the breaststroke I was surprised I was quite close".

"She has a condition but she never moans", said her father, who watched the race from the stands with O'Connor's mother and brother.

'I've probably had my most consistent block of work ever leading up to this so I was really confident coming in as sometimes I can have disruptions. We have had a good few years after a lot of change - some great swimmers and an incredible staff and support team who do absolutely everything for us.

The only one of the bunch to do it in three individual events, as Hosszu has done, was Evans, who won the 400m and 800m free and the 400m IM. "It's going to be a lot of fun racing, knowing that I already have three".

O'Connor closed on Hosszu as they both approached the wall but the Hungarian held on to set a new Olympic record of 2:06.58.
